Members of the Arch City Masters team row for a variety of reasons:

What Type of Boats Do You Row?
The Arch City Masters are sweep rowers ( meaning one oar per rower) and the boats are referred to as shells. We currently row two types of shells:
How Often Do You Practice?
On-Water Rowing (April - November)
During the on-water rowing seasons, the Arch City Masters team practices 2-3 times/week with a coach on the water. On-water practices generally are held a couple of weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. When the weather prevents us from rowing on the water, we move practice indoors and condition on the ergs (rowing machines).
Indoor/Erging (October - March)
When regatta season ends and it is too dark to row, we move indoors on the erg machines. Erg room practices generally are held a couple of weekday evenings, 7 pm - 8 pm and Saturday mornings 8:45 am -9:45 am. On-water practices will resume once the ice is off the lake and the temperature is deemed warm enough.
Do You Compete in Regattas?
Competing in regattas is not required, although encouraged! We typically enter 2-3 summer/fall regattas (see below).
When not racing, Arch City Masters team members are encouraged to volunteer to help out at the docks at regattas. It is a fun atmosphere!
Summer/Fall Regattas
Midwest Summer Sprints - Dillon Lake, Nashport, OH
Columbus Fall Classic - Hoover Reservoir, Columbus, OH
Speakmon Memorial Regatta - Griggs Reservoir, Columbus, OH
